Bessie and Bonnie

This is Bessie, our Coriente cow. We bought her to use for roping practice and tracking our young horses. We also plan on getting a few calves out of her as well. She is an 05 model and has a beautiful registered sire...he is for sale and can be seen on the Other Stuff for Sale page.

On March 10, 2008, Bessie surprised us with a baby calf!! I guess when the neighbor's herd got in our field, their Angus bull got to know Bessie! She had a gorgeous little heifer calf. We are so proud of Bessie's first calf! We are planning to rebreed Bessie (on purpose this time!) for another calf next spring. Bessie is currently being bred to a full-blooded Jersey bull.

Heidi and the calf checking each other out.

"Miss Oops" (now christened "Bonnie") trying to nurse our yearling filly, Cricket. Cricket was licking her! Guess she'll be a good mom someday...

New pictures of Bonnie taken 4-29-08 and 5-7-08.

Heidi

Heidi is a 25 lb. 1/2 blue heeler, 1/4 pug, and 1/4 beagle. She was born March 2, 2007 at the Republic Pound. I adopted her when she was 3 months old and she has been a bundle of fun ever since! She is full of energy and loves everyone. She helps me herd my goats, she gets along with all the livestock, no matter how tiny they are! She is a very obedient, very sweet, loving dog with a puppy playfulness all the time. Just look at that face! Isn't she just precious?!

The picture to the right was the day I brought her home.

This is Heidi in June 07 at the creek.

Kibbles

Kibbles was a stray who I took in off the streets in 2002 when she was just a puppy. She is about 6 years old now. She is a Foxhound mix, weighs about 25 lbs, and is the BEST house dog ever! She is a sweet dog who loves everyone and gets jealous easily. She will hold a grudge for a long time if you don't show her enough attention but if you give her enough, she is as loyal as dogs can be. She doesn't like other dogs...she's too dignified most of the time to play with them but if a person just touches her, she's in heaven. Kibbles is a very good house/ranch dog...couldn't ask for a better one.

Chip

Chip, so named because at 3 weeks of age he was found eating half a chipmunk by himself...before even eating cat food! Chip is a great ranch cat. He is a big guy and a great hunter. He takes down full grown rabbits and eats them! He has also gone after full-grown raccoons and treed them! He takes care of our mouse populations as well. He is sweet and loving to people and loves attention.
Here Chip is on birdwatch...:)

Kitty

Kitty was a stray kitten at only about 6 weeks old. I think she was dumped by someone on my road in 2004. I took her in and got her started on cat food and litter training and she's been with me ever since. At first, I didn't know what I'd gotten into....she was WILD! She would bounce off the walls and furniture, literally. Then, she'd settle down into a ball of fluff in my lap and take a sweet nap, just to get up later and go wild again. Luckily, when she was older, she calmed down quite a bit. Now she is a very sweet, loving cat who enjoys any attention anyone will give her.

Socks and Junior

Socks and Junior came to me at a dead, panicked run. They were being chased by my donkey! I could tell they were strays because they were half-starved and looked terrible. It didn't help that they were panting and about to drop of heat exhaustion. They were only about 9 or 10 weeks old. I set them up with some cat food and milk which they ate very quickly. Of course, they have been here ever since! I think they are brother-sister and they are very close. Both are sweet and loving...I think they are grateful for getting a home. They will just love a person to death. Socks is on the left, Junior on the right.
